Grill Wins, Long Champion!

{nl}      Johanna Long, the 17-year-old Pensacola driver, continues to run with the big boys of racing. Make that win against the big boys. She became the first woman to clinch the Blizzard Series Super Late Model points championship Friday night at Five Flags Speedway. Super Stock Championship

{nl}           It’s so close Randy can see it.  Just one really big race he has to win, and it is this Friday night. Randy Thompson, who has dominated the Sportsmen Division for several years moved up to try the Super Stocks this year, while still wheeling the Sportsmen car.      He is just 20 points from winning 2 championship jackets this year, an unheard of accomplishment …two track championships in the same year.  Twice as much shop work, but Randy has his family to help, and sponsors too.     […]

Mercer, Long WIN at Double Points Night

{nl} Track record… Pole position… Forty laps led…  Johanna Long, the teenage driver from Pensacola, made the Pro Late Model race look easy Friday night at Five Flags Speedway. “I couldn’t have asked for a better race,” she said. Her biggest issue came in practice when another car sideswiped her. Her crew had to replace the entire left side of the body, but the car was still fast. Bike Fest 2009

{nl}      After a successful debut event in 2008, the 2nd Annual 5 Flags Bikefest has been  highly anticipated for 2009, and appears poised not to disappoint. {nl}          The Sportsmen, a group of competitors where it’s rare to see a teenage driver. These drivers work their day jobs, and spend their nights in the garage with a friend or 2 on their cars.
