Chase Elliott has the blueprint for success at Five Flags Speedway.
What’s refreshing about the 16-year-old racing sensation is as good as he has been in his Super Late Model, he’s adamant that there is room for improvement.
In classic Elliott fashion, he saved his stuff for the end and captured the checkered flag for the Rubber and Specialties 100 on Friday.
The son of NASCAR icon Bill Elliott, Chase Elliott won for the third time in his last three races in Pensacola, a stretch that includes the 2011 Snowball Derby.
“We can be better, that’s a fact,” said Elliott, who won […]

Clay Alexander has always been a young driver to watch.
With a short-track bloodline that would rival any of his rivals, the Franklin, Tenn., native commands respect from his peers before his white No. 84 Super Late Model pulls onto tracks throughout the southeast.
But the 21 year old is beginning to carve out his own name and he served notice of that at the last Blizzard Series race at Five Flags Speedway in April.
Alexander sits seventh in the Blizzard standings and hopes to continue his march in the Rubber and Specialties 100 on Friday at Pensacola’s high banks.

A quick glance at Kyle Benjamin and you realize the 14-year-old short-tracking phenom has grown a few inches the last few months.
“I used to be shorter than the roof of the cars,” the teenage sensation quipped, only half joking.
Eerily, Benjamin’s fledgling racing career has soared to new heights in recent weeks.
Fresh off a resume-topping victory and riding a two-race winning streak, Benjamin comes back to Five Flags Speedway looking for more at the Rubber and Specialties 100.
Super Stocks, Sportsmen and Bombers also return to the famed half-mile, asphalt oval when the gates open at 5 p.m. Friday.

Expectations tend to be more curses than blessings.
Personal goals are one thing. Those seem to get the competitive juices flowing.
When others set the proverbial bar for you, though, expectations become more about pressure than motivation.
Take Bubba Pollard.
The Senoia, Ga., driver is enjoying a nice, respectable season as he brings his No. 26 Super Late Model into Five Flags Speedway for Friday’s Rubber and Specialties 100.
With a pair of fourth-place finishes, Pollard sits atop the Blizzard Series points standings heading into the year’s third race.
Super Stocks, Sportsmen and Bombers will also swap paint at Pensacola’s high banks when the […]
Drivers from Texas to the Carolinas will meet for the 3rd of 5 Buddy’s Blizzard Series races on Friday the 25th at 5 Flags Speedway.
The series continues to attract teams with an eye on the December Snowball Derby.
Leader Bubba Pollard is from Georgia.
Mike Garvey now calls Pensacola home.
Augie Grill from Alabama.
Kyle Benjamin lives in South Carolina,
Grant Enfinger from North Carolina.
Others will be representing Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
The Rubber and Specialties Blizzard will also feature Super Stocks, Sportsmen and Bombers. […]

Plenty of drivers in plenty of classes have etched their names into the abrasive asphalt at Five Flags Speedway.
Perhaps no one is leaving the legacy of Steve Buttrick.
The Cantonment driver added to his ever-expanding resume in the Sportsman division with another trip to Victory Lane on Friday at Five Flags.
Buttrick made a nifty move by Shanna Ard for the lead on Lap 22 of the 35-lap Spectacular and ran away from the rest of the 13-car field.
Ard, who led for most of the night, coasted home for second while defending track champion Brannon Fowler took home third.
“Was a […]

Todd Jones readily admits Lady Luck was in on his side last year en route to his Modifieds track championship.
After striking an untimely chord in the 50-lap season opener last month, Jones hopes she’ll be back in the passenger seat Friday at Five Flags Speedway.
Jones will try to make amends for that 12th-place finish when a full field of Modifieds return with a 25-lap feature this week at Pensacola’s high banks.
It highlights an all-local flavor with the Sportsmen battling it out in a 35 lapper with Super Stocks (25 laps) and Bombers (20 laps) rounding things out.
The grandstands […]
