With 2016 in the rear view, we are proud to announce the 2017 5 Flags Speedway Schedule. Many changes are in store as we approach the New Year. We will continue our 5 event Drift Series in 2017, and are really excited to host, for the first time ever, an AMA Super Moto Series event in October. This event will bring in top shelf motorcycle racers from around the nation, and we’re flattered that this California based organization has chosen Pensacola to be on their schedule. While other non racing activities are in discussion, we are quick to recognize that […]

A new era is on the horizon for the division formerly known as Super Stocks. After much research and deliberation, a 3 year rules package is being put in place for what will now be known as the Faith Chapel Outlaw Stock Division. With lighter weights, lower ride heights, engine setbacks, and other changes, it will now be even easier to convert a Late Model type car into an Outlaw Stock. Most current Super Stock Division cars will find the conversion to be rather easy. The 2016 Super Stock Division faced challenges in terms of car counts, and the hope […]
The premier Super Late Model touring series in the southeastern United States, the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco, is returning for its fifth season of door-to-door action. 2017 promises to be its biggest year yet with 12 races on the schedule.
The dozen events will occur in five different states beginning with the Rattler 250 at Opp, Alabama’s South Alabama Speedway on March 17-19. The series will conclude its action in Pensacola, Florida at the home of the Snowball Derby, Five Flags Speedway on September 23.
“We couldn’t be more excited about the 2017 Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco schedule […]
Eckes-llent Victory: Teenage Driver’s Improbable Win Highlights Wild, Wacky 49th Annual Snowball Derby
By Chuck Corder
The race that couldn’t seemed to start didn’t want to end.
Delayed two days because of rain, the wait to crown the 49th annual Snowball Derby champion at Five Flags Speedway took longer than expected Tuesday night.
Beaucoup cautions and struggles in getting the 36-car field lined up following controlled pit stops caused the most prestigious short-track race in America to linger nearly 5 hours.
Once the ending finally came, though, the masses that flooded the famed half-mile asphalt oval were treated to the best finish in the distinguished history of the 300-lap Super Late Model race.
Sixteen-year-old Christian Eckes came out […]
The 49th Annual Snowball Derby was worth waiting two days for. Christian Eckes and John Hunter Nemechek put on a show during the final laps that fans won’t forget for a long time. The teenage drivers swapped the inside lane and the lead four times during the final two laps before 16-year-old Eckes nipped 19-year-old Nemechek at the line by 0.017 seconds.
“I can’t even believe I’m standing here right now,” Eckes said in Victory Lane. “I thought our day was over when we had that incident down the backstretch. Man, I just can’t believe this. This is the Snowball Derby […]

Come hell or high water — which, coincidentally, there was a lot of Sunday at Five Flags Speedway — rain will not overcome snow this year in Pensacola.
Try as she might, Five Flags track officials are determined to not allow Mother Nature the upper hand for the running of the 49th annual Snowball Derby.
The rain might have won the first round Sunday, but the Derby will be run when the green flag drops at approximately 5 p.m. today.
“We were right on the verge of starting the race tonight,” said Five Flags promoter and track general manager Tim Bryant. […]
Grill Notches Emotional Allen Turner Snowflake 100 Victory, Ties Elliott for All-Time Wins in PLM RaceSnowflake and Pro Trucks

Augie Grill had his hands full.
He was struggling to cradle a shiny new, but bulky winner’s trophy and a coveted checkered flag while he posed for photos in Victory Lane.
“You act like you hadn’t done this before,” someone said in Grill’s entourage.
Truth be told, it had been more than two years since Grill had celebrated a win at Five Flags Speedway.
That long drought ended in a major way Saturday night at the famed half-mile asphalt oval, as Grill thrilled a packed house with a victory that seemingly came out of nowhere.
Grill was his vintage self in capturing the […]
