Snowball Derby has a new Queen

Helena Ciappina  was selected Miss Snowball Derby Thursday  evening from a field of 14 contestants in the annual pageant at Seville Quarter in historic downtown Pensacola.

Bristol Aaron of Cantonment was first alternate, and Shelby Watson of Byesville, OH was second alternate.

Each year, the Snowball Derby provides an opportunity for young, promising drivers to gain notoriety with a solid run against the best Super Late Model competition in the country. Manassas, Virginia’s Mason Diaz hopes to make a strong first impression.


Diaz will be attempting double-duty during the famed week of action at Five Flags Speedway (FL). For the second straight year, Jack Dossey III ended his season in the Midwest by clinching the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour championship at Winchester Speedway during the Winchester 400.  In past years, his season would have ended there, but in 2018 his team has added another big date to their schedule: the 51st Annual Snowball Derby.
