“With Buddy’s involvement, Five Flags General Manager Tim Bryant said, “we’ll be able to step up the regional if not national exposure for the Blizzard Series.
Five Flags kicks off its 2011 with a bang with the first of five 100-lap Blizzard races on Opening Night, March 25. It’s the first time in track history a Blizzard race starts a season.
Reigning Snowball Derby champion and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rookie Johanna Long, a Pensacola native, will be there to entertain her hometown fans. Drivers will sign autographs for fans prior to the start of the race.
Long will battle the usual cast of Super Late Model characters, such as two-time Derby winner Augie Grill, Bubba Pollard and Mike Garvey, and newcomers, such as D.J. VanderLey.
VanderLey, who captured Pro Late Model titles at Five Flags and Mobile International Speedway last season, will be driving Eddie Craig’s No. 4 in the Blizzard Series this season.
