Five Flags Speedway

Ronnie Bassett Jr. Heads South to Pensacola, Florida Looks to Continue Top-10 Streak

Winston-Salem, N.C. (June 12, 2014) - Ronnie Bassett Jr. and the Bassett Racing No. 04 Butler Trailer Manufacturing/Roush Yates Performance team look to extend their top-10 streak and continued climb up the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East point standings at Five Flags Speedway.  Pensacola, the westernmost city in the Florida Panhandle will host the Pensacola 150 on Friday night, June 13 and will mark the first time Bassett Jr. will roll out onto the famed ½ mile Five Flags Speedway.

  •  Keeping the Streak Alive Ronnie Bassett Jr. has a current streak of four top-10 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East finishes dating all the way back to March at Greenville-Pickens Speedway.  He also has three top-5 finishes in the last four series events.
  • Making up Ground Bassett Jr. of Winston-Salem, North Carolina moved into the 8th position in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East driver point standings after a 5th-place finish at Bowman Gray Stadium two weeks ago. Bassett Jr., moved from the 9th position to the 8th position in points and has three top-five finishes, and four top-ten finishes with seven starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.
  • Welcome Back to Florida The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East returns to Florida after starting the season in February at New Smyrna Speedway and Daytona International Speedway. The Pensacola 150 will be the second NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event at Five Flags Speedway. The facility opened in 1953, the same season the track held its only NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event. The name Five Flags comes from Pensacola's nickname as 'The City of Five Flags' to represent the five national governments that have controlled the city at various times. The race will be 150 laps (75 miles) and run in two segments with a halfway break at or near the conclusion of Lap 75.

  • Ronnie Bassett Jr."I'm really looking forward to The Pensacola 150, it's a track that is extremely well known throughout short track racing, and a track I've always wanted to compete at.  The track is rough, lacks grip, and really fast so I feel like a lot of my late model experience will transfer over to Pensacola since it's the same thing my team and I have fought for years, finding forward drive and grip.  We've got a really nice top-10 finish streak going right now and every race we continue to climb back up the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East point standings.  I feel like that's evidence of the hard work my team has put in the past few months to get better and ultimately finish better, we definitely have momentum and I hope to continue it with a great finish at Pensacola, FL."
