One year ago, Bubba Pollard came up just one point short of winning the Southern Super Series championship.  This year, the Senoia, Georgia driver wasn't about to let his first SSS title slip away again.

Pollard used a consistent Gulf Coast weekend consisting of two fourth-place finishes here at Five Flags Speedway and Mobile International Speedway on his way to being crowned the 2014 Southern Super Series champion.

In addition to the SSS championship, his pair of top-five finishes also crowned him 2014 Blizzard Series (Five Flags Super Late Model), Miller Lite Series (Mobile Super Late Model), and Gulf Coast Series (Five Flags and Mobile combined) champion.  Polllard's Blizzard Series championship is his second-straight and makes him the first repeat champion of the series in nine seasons.

"We had a good season all and all," said Pollard.  "We came out of the box pretty strong and really had some good racecars.  We've had a good year and I've had a lot of help along the way.  I can't thank all these guys enough."

For a driver who has always put his entire focus on winning races and brushed aside the thought of points racing, it may be a surprise that Pollard took the conservative route on the way to his top-five finish at Mobile on Saturday.

"I feel like we had to watch those guys in front of us for sure," said the 2014 Southern Super Series champion.  "They were racing pretty hard.  We had to keep our eyes open, but if you're there late in the race you're doing your best to hold your own."

For his championship efforts, Pollard pocketed more than $21,000 in purse money between the four series this weekend.  But maybe more importantly than the money, he was able to get redemption after coming up one single point short of the Southern Super Series championship in 2014.

"In a way it does make up for last year," said Pollard.   "We almost gave it to him again this year after not finishing the World Crown and having problems at Montgomery (AL) last weekend.  It definitely feels good to come back and win this year.  I feel like we've had the car to win the championship two years in a row so that was pretty cool."

With four championships in hand, the Georgia driver will now set his sights on bringing home a trophy in some of the biggest Super Late Model and Pro Late Model races in the country.  He will compete in the Allen Turner Pro Late Model 100 at Five Flags on September 27 before tackling the Winchester 400 (October 12), All American 400 (November 1), Governor's Cup 200 (November 22) and Snowball Derby (December 7) to end his 2014 campaign.
