Father-Daughter Duo set to Debut in 50 Lap Pro-Truck Feature
Brian Weimer and daughter Jami Weimer have been going to race tracks together for almost two decades, but now they will go completing against each other. Jami Weimer, 19, started racing Pro trucks at the end of the 2013 season after her father, Brain, hung up his racing suit to help her in her racing career. It was hard for my dad to quit racing, said Jami. "So, I know he is excited to be back to compete with me. It will be bittersweet.
Brian has been in and out of the seat the past few years racing legend cars but he thinks he will be ready for the Derby. "It will be cool racing with Jami at the derby, Brian stated. But she knows I will put her in the wall for the checkers if I have to.
Jami has already proven herself to be a competitor. She made her debut in the season finale race at 5 flags a month ago where she finished second after leading the first 22 laps of the 25 lap feature. After gaining some valuable experience, the team has made some changes to the truck to help her for the 50 lap main event at the derby. "Our goal is to finish a Weimer 1-2, whether that be me winning or my dad winning, I would call it a dream come true," said Jami. Help us reach our dream by helping here.
