Majeski More Confident Than Ever Ahead of Snowball Derby

October 27, 2016

No driver has been hotter than Ty Majeski over the course of the last two years.  With close to 40 wins since the start of 2015, no driver has won more than he has.  Majeski is even the Super Late Model track record holder at Five Flags Speedway (FL).  But still, the Snowball Derby and the Tom Dawson Trophy eludes him.

However, Majeski said he’s heading down to Pensacola, Florida this December with more confidence than ever.

“We’re going back down there with a lot more confidence than last year,â€? Majeski said.  “Hopefully we can build on that and improve our position by a couple spots.  I think we’re better.  Our race cars are better.  I know I’m better than this time last year.  I’m pretty optimistic this year.â€?

While Majeski is hoping that the rest of the competition should be scared of him being a better driver compared to one year ago, he said he knows that everyone else hasn’t just been sitting around either.

“Other guys have gotten better.  Bubba Pollard has been really fast.  Jeff Choquette is another that I think will be pretty tough,â€? Majeski stated.  “We’ve gotten better but so has everyone else.  We just have to keep that in mind.â€?

In 2015, Majeski led 63 laps before finishing third.  Even though he had one of the fastest cars in Pensacola, it was pit road that kept Majeski from scoring the win.

“We just lost a lot of track position on pit road last year,â€? he said.  “It wasn’t my guys’ fault.  We just didn’t have the studs made right.  Basically there was too much thread showing so when we popped the first lug, the other four would pop off.  But we’ll be prepared this year and hopefully instead of going from the lead to last on the lead lap we’ll maybe just lose a few spots.â€?

If Majeski and his team have truly figured things out on pit road, then everybody else should watch out.  Majeski said he now feels like this is his best chance to score the most meaningful win of his career.

“In 2015 we won the Governor’s Cup, which was a pretty big win,â€? Majeski said.  “We also won the Rattler 250 this year in March.  So we’ve got one this year that’s pretty big, but the Snowball Derby tops them all.  We’re not going to go down and hire a pit crew.  We’re going to do it with our guys that race with me 60 times a year.  We’re sticking with those guys, so it would be really cool to bring home a win for all of those guys.â€?

The Seymour, Wisconsin native might be starting to run out of room in his trophy case after all of the success he’s had the last couple seasons, but space won’t be an issue for Majeski if he gets to take home the Tom Dawson Trophy.

“I’ll tell you what, I’ll definitely find room for the Tom Dawson Trophy,â€? he said with confidence.  “It’s definitely one that I want.  The Snowball Derby is the biggest race in Super Late Models, so I’m excited to get down there and see how we stack up.â€?
