Green Flag Pit Party Returns Bigger & Better at Snowball Derby
Race fans who are heading to Pensacola, Florida for the 50th Annual Snowball Derby will once again be in for a full week of excitement at Five Flags Speedway beginning Wednesday night, November 29 with the Green Flag Pit Party. This year, the Wednesday night activities are getting a high-octane facelift for the momentous occasion.
While the day includes load-in and preliminary technical inspection for Late Model teams, things begin to get cranking at 6 p.m. CT with the qualifying draw for both the Snowball Derby and Allen Turner Snowflake 100. New for this season, the draw will be held in a tent in the fan zone at Five Flags Speedway so that the track can be race ready.
For the first time in Derby history, racing will be held as a part of the Wednesday night activities with the 50-lap feature for the Lloyd’s Glass Pure Stocks kicking off the racing action for the week. It is the first of a couple of tweaks for the first few nights of feature racing.
“We’re excited about it for several reasons. It’s going to take our Pure Stock division and put them on center stage. It’s also going to free up some pit area parking for our other divisions, said Five Flags Speedway Promoter Tim Bryant. “We’re hoping to eliminate the outside parking. It will make Thursday flow a little better with the Outlaw Stocks and the Sportsman divisions. Of course, Friday night we expect a large turnout for the 75-lap Open-Wheel Modified race.
Following the Pure Stock feature, the Green Flag Pit Party will open up in full for race fans with many activities and amenities including a DJ, large video screen and prize giveaways. The Chili for Charity contest benefitting the Pensacola Miracle League is also back. As in year’s past, the Green Flag Pit Party will be a chance for race fans from all over to meet and mingle with all the participants who will go door to door all week long.
Admission for Wednesday night is just $5 if purchased separately. Fans who purchase the $75 weekend long reserved ticket package will be able to attend Wednesday night’s activities free of charge.
The 50th Annual Snowball Derby will kick off on Wednesday, November 29 with racing for the first time in event history on a Wednesday night.
