Snowball Derby Local Division Entries Flying Into Pensacola

Over the last half-century, the Snowball Derby has gained a reputation as one the greatest and most formidable Super Late Model events in the nation. While both the Super Late Models and Pro Late Models form the core of Snowball Derby week, the 50th running of the Derby will feature a collection of multiple divisions over the course of four days.

With just over a week remaining until these racers descend upon Five Flags Speedway, we are getting our first look at who will be participating in the Modifieds, Pro Trucks, Outlaw Stocks, Sportsman and Pure Stocks.

In the Modifieds, 2017 Five Flags Speedway and Modifieds of Mayhem champion Joe Aramendia sets his sight on his first Snowball Derby Modified win on Friday, December 1. Another Florida Modified ace Cody Stickler, who has had much success during Florida Speedweeks at New Smyrna Speedway, is also after his first Derby win in the 75-lap feature.

The Pro Trucks will once again conclude Saturday night racing action following the Snowflake 100 on December 2. Cody Haskins and 2011 Snowball Derby runner-up D.J. Vanderley will be two of the big names that will be going for the trophy in the 50-lap feature. Super Late Model driver Logan Boyett is also entered in the Pro Trucks as he prepared for a double-duty week.

Late Model drivers won’t be the only drivers pulling double-duty during Snowball Derby week; Okie Mason and Rick Pollaro are entered in both the Pro Trucks and the Faith Chapel Outlaw Stock 50-lap feature on Thursday night, November 30.

The Dock Pensacola Beach Sportsman competitors will be in action alongside the Outlaws on Thursday night. Local favorites Caleb Burkett and Jim Pokrant are among the early entries.

Robert Balkum and Chad Robinson are among the early entries for Lloyd’s Glass Pure Stocks, who will lead off the racing week on Wednesday, November 29 with a 50-lap race.

More entries are expected to arrive throughout the week leading up to the Snowball Derby.  Like in past years, many of the local racers elect to file their entry the day of their race.

Race fans can find a full entry list for all divisions by visiting Schaeffer’s Snowball Central on Speed51.com.

The 50th Annual Snowball Derby will kick off on Wednesday, November 29 with racing for the first time in event history on a Wednesday night. The Pure Stock division will be in action for a 50-lap feature prior to the annual Green Flag Pit Party and all-important qualifying draw for Late Model drivers.

Late Models will hit the track for the first time on Thursday, November 30 prior to 50-lap features for the Sportsman and Outlaw Stock divisions later that night.

Friday, December 1 is the most intense day in all of short track racing. It’s qualifying day for the Snowball Derby. Also on Friday night, the Modifieds will get their spotlight as they do battle for 75 laps to crown their Snowball Derby champion.

Saturday, December 2 is Allen Turner Snowflake 100 race day. Qualifying for the Snowflake 100 will begin at 2 p.m. CT. A 50-lap last chance race for the Snowflake 100 will immediately follow qualifying. The 50-lap last chance race for the Snowball Derby will also be held on Saturday evening at the conclusion of the last chance race for the Snowflake 100.

The green flag for the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 will wave at 7 p.m. Also on Saturday night, the Pro Trucks will race for 50 laps to decide who takes their Snowball Derby victory.

Sunday, December 3 is the biggest day of the year in short track racing. It’s race day for the 50th Annual Snowball Derby. Pre-race festivities will begin at Noon CT. The class photo for the 50th Annual Snowball Derby will be taken on the frontstretch at 12:30. Driver introductions will follow at 1:15 p.m. The green flag for the 50th Annual Snowball Derby will wave at 2 p.m.
