Due to persistent rains in the panhandle region of Florida, the 52nd Annual Snowball Derby presented by BJ’s Wholesale Club
has been postponed to Monday, December 9 at 4 p.m. Central.
The race, initially scheduled for 2 p.m. Central on Sunday, December 8, was postponed throughout the day by rain before officials were forced to postpone the event to Monday.
“We gave it a valiant effort but unfortunately the weather did just not cooperate, said Five Flags Speedway owner Tim Bryant. “Out of respect to the racers and the fans, when we saw this last line of rain come through, we decided to make the call because we knew even if it stopped raining it would take too long to prepare the race track.
Pit gates will open at 10 a.m. local time for the rescheduled race. Grandstands will open at 1 p.m., with the race starting at 4 p.m.
Speed51’s broadcast of the Snowball Derby will begin at 3 p.m.
Fans who had purchased tickets for the race but are unable to attend in person can email snowballderby@aol.com and receive credit for a free pay-per-view ticket of Speed51’s Sunday broadcast.
