16 year old Gibbs to run Pensacola 200

Coming off an emotional victory at Myrtle Beach Speedway in the 4th Annual Icebreaker, Ty Gibbs has filed an entry for the March 9th ARCA Pensacola 200.
At 16 years old Ty Gibbs, Joe's Grandson and Coy's son is the youngest member of the Joe Gibbs racing family.

Gibbs has a full slate of racing in 2019 that includes splitting time with Riley Herbst in the ARCA Menards Series. Gibbs will run the short tracks while Herbst will run the mile and half or better tracks the 16 year old is unable to run on.

The youngest Gibbs driver has already experienced enough highs and lows in 2019 to fill a season and more. From the loss of his Uncle JD to winning in Myrtle Beach, to being hit hard by NASCAR for a testing infraction to his teammates at Gibbs racing finishing 1, 2, 3 at Daytona.

"At 16 I just keep moving forward. We've had a lot happen already but you just have to put the good and bad behind you and focus on what's ahead," said Gibbs.
Gibbs spent Tuesday testing at Pensacola's 5 Flags Speedway preparing for his ARCA debut.

"Pensacola is really demanding and very technical, you have to conserve tires all the time and at 16 that's really not my best racing quality," offered Gibbs.

Who better to help the youngster than his spotter, former Pensacola and Mobile Late Model Champion, Hal Martin. The "Rajun Cajun" and his family owned team were mainstays on the Gulf Coast before Martin left to pursue his racing career that led to the ARCA and the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

"Hal is a huge help in getting me around Pensacola, once we broke the language barrier. Actually he's teaching me to speak like him so I can understand him better," chuckled Gibbs.
Of course Gibbs has a couple of teammates in Erik Jones and Kyle Busch that know a thing or two about getting around Pensacola also.

The clock is ticking to ARCA's return to Pensacola, tickets and camping spots can be purchased online at www.5flagsspeedway.com or calling 850-944-8400.
