August 4th
On a sweltering summer night, a couple thousand fans graced the gates of Five flags Speedway and witnessed an incredible night of action, capped off by a popular Camden Sidner victory in the Michels & Booth Demolition Derby.
Sidner had to outlast Gueston Rogers and Kenny King to claim the win on the Five Flags frontstretch, which resembled a war zone at the conclusion.
Prior to the Demo Derby, 4 Divisions of racing took place. Timothy Watson dominated the Faith Chapel Outlaw Division, leading all 40 laps to win in commanding style over Mississippi upstart Carter Taylor. Mr. Consistent Conner Sutton took third, with Derrick Griffin and Bubba Winslow rounding out the top 5.
The Dock of Pensacola Sportsman Division saw a familiar face return to Victory Lane after a long absence, with former Pure Stock Champion B.J. Leytham piloting the familiar #8 to the win. A race long battle with Maddox Langham kept the crowd on their feet. Langham hung on for second with his main Championship contender Chad Robinson in close pursuit. James Patrick finished 4th while Daryl McDonald III rounded out the top 5.
The Lloyd’s Glass Pure Stock race yielded some real action with several lead changes, only to find Championship leader Robert Barber parked in the Winner’s Circle at race end. Early leader Colby McDonald faded mid-race, victim of a flat tire leaving Barber to battle Mason Johnston, Thomas Norman and Butch Harvell for the W. Sean Barnes completed the top 5.
Mr. Versatility Hunter Lambert won in his inaugural fray into the new Crown Stock Division. Blaze Boykin finished 2nd, only after 2 Green/White/ Checker restarts. Points leader Ryan Bleich finished 3rd, with his chief competitor Tyler Young coming home 4th, and Daryl McDonald III fifth.
Racing returns to Five Flags Speedway on Friday Night, August 25, with Round 3 in the Allen Turner Road to the Snowflake Series. The Pro Late Model 100 Lap event will be joined by the Zoom Equipment Pro Trucks, Lloyd’s Glass Pure Stocks, and the Story & Bleich Roofing Crown Stocks.
