It seems that anytime a short track sits dormant for even a short period of time, the possibility of a “return with a bang” is eminent. But there is no guarantee this will always be the case. This former driver, owner, sponsor, and overall, just a Race Fan, has a passion for such success. Coupled with the fact that he is already operating US 90 Dragway next door to the Irvington Oval, Shoemaker has rallied the support of the local community like hasn’t been seen in recent years. The racers are reaping the benefits of additional Bonus Bucks on a regular basis.
Enter Tim Bryant. Longtime operator at Pensacola’s Five Flags Speedway. Bryant and his family have carried this same passion for many years. “We’re as excited as anyone with what’s going on at MIS”, Bryant says. “It’s a shot in the arm for Gulf Coast Racing, that’s for sure. Eddie has been supportive of both tracks for several years, and in his new role, we know that it’s only going to get better for the local racing scene. In line with this approach, this weekend, the two tracks will be featuring a Friday Pensacola, Saturday Mobile, doubleheader of racing that will is guaranteed to produce some great action.
Bonus Bucks posted at both tracks has the attention of the drivers, so car counts will be good both nights. This is where Bryant and Shoemaker continued their creativity.
The 100 lap Pro Late feature Friday at 5 Flags, and the 50 lap PLM race at MIS each has a $5,000 check to the winner. In addition there is $2,000 bonus for the best average finish .
Some lucky Race Fan will take home $1000 Cash, and to be eligible, you simply have to attend and enjoy 2 great nights of racing action. “All you have to do” Shoemaker says, “ is bring your Pensacola ticket stub to the gate on Saturday Night.
